Details of Disappearance
Larry Krebbs was last seen in Durant, Oklahoma on May 30th 1980. He was camping at Lake Texoma with his family which included his father, mother, and his two older siblings. They also had two neighborhood friends camping with them.
According to Larry’s father, Larry Krebbs Sr., they left the campsite to gather up some firewood. He stated that he last saw his son behind him and carrying an armful of small sticks. He was slightly ahead of his son but when he turned around, Larry was gone. The area they were walking in was wide open and they were about 15 feet away from the banks of a river.
Investigators originally suspected that Larry drowned in the river as the water depth had reached 6 feet high by that day and was flowing rapidly at the time. His father does not believe the child drowned since he didn’t hear him scream or a splash to indicate he fell in. Investigators theorized that Larry was swept away by the current and got caught on something only to be covered with silt, hindering the recovery efforts.
Larry Sr. believes his son was abducted. He stated there were quite a few people in the area and he believes someone picked him up and took him away. No one has been named as a suspect in the child’s disappearance and there’s no evidence that he was abducted or that he drowned.
Larry’s disappearance remains unsolved and investigators are unsure of what happened to him. Some agencies might list his date of disappearance as June 1st.
