Details of Disappearance
Vinyette was last seen in Chicago, Illinois on June 25th 1983. She was last seen playing in the 7th floor gallery of her family’s apartment building at Robert Taylor Homes. The building was located in the 5000 block of South Federal Street. She was in the care of her grandparents that evening while her parents went to a drive in movie. They left at approximately 9:00 pm.
Around 50 people were in the hallway at the time they left which included family members of Vinyette such as her cousins, two aunts, her uncle, and various neighbors. She was left alone by her grandmother at 9:30 pm so she could answers phone call. When she returned, Vinyette was gone. She was reported as a missing child at 3:00 am when her parents returned home.
The gallery was packed that night and there were various people there but no one recalled seeing anything suspicious. There were only 3 exits in the building at the time.
At the time of her disappearance, Vinyette lived with her parents and three older brothers in the apartment building. Her grandparents also lived there with them. The building has since been destroyed.
Vinyette has never been seen again and investigators believe she was abducted by a non family member. Her abduction remains unsolved.
