Details of Disappearance

Sharaun was last seen in Manhattan, New York on February 25th 1983. She was reportedly last seen outside of her family’s residence on Edgecomb Avenue, she told her mother she was walking to a nearby park to play during the evening hours. She never returned home and was never heard from again.

Her mother was initially unconcerned with her daughters absence and assumed she had gone to her godmothers home. She has previously done this before but when her mother found out her daughter wasn’t there the next day, she contacted police.

Investigators initially believed Sharaun might have left on her own accord. According to some people she knew at the time, she was having issues at home with her mother but her mother has consistently said that Shauran had no problems at home in 1983.

In July of 1983, two people who knew Sharaun reportedly saw her in two different areas in Manhattan. One of the sightings was in the Greenwich Village neighborhood area and the other sighting was in the vicinity of 160th St. and Broadway. In both reports, Sharaun was described as looking “very dirty” and upset.

The fact that Sharaun looked unkempt is odd since she did not neglect her hygienic needs. It’s unknown if the people who saw her spoke or interacted with her. It’s also unknown if she was with anyone at the time of the sightings. Investigators have been unable to locate Sharaun.

At the time of her disappearance, Sharaun lived with her mother in the corner building at 165th and Edgecomb in the Washington Heights neighborhood. She attended P.S. 128 Elementary School in 1983. Sharaun’s disappearance remains unsolved.
