Details of Disappearance
Raymond was last seen in Atlanta, Georgia on November 6th 1978, five days after his birth. He lived at 1397 Southwest Moury Avenue at the time with his mother, Donna Green. A woman Green knew as “Lisa Morris” came by the house unannounced that day wanting to see how both Donna and Raymond were doing. They spoke for an hour before Donna decided to take a shower, leaving Raymond with his uncle, newborn cousin, and the woman.
Raymond’s uncle was dosing in and out of sleep but he remembered that the baby started crying so Morris picked him up and took him outside on the porch. When Donna got out of the shower fifteen minutes later, both the woman and her infant son were nowhere to be found.
When Donna went outside to look for them, a neighbor told her she saw the woman carrying Raymond outside of the house before she got into the passenger side of a brown colored vehicle being driven by an unidentified man. They drove away and this was the last time anyone ever saw the baby.
Donna had met the woman at Grady Memorial Hospital while she was watching Raymond through the nursery window just after giving birth to him. The woman said she was there visiting her sister who had also just given birth so the two bonded. Morris followed Donna back to her hospital room and asked her many questions about herself as well as Raymond. She visited Donna two more times until she and her son were discharged on November 3rd 1978.
After they were discharged, the woman asked Donna for a ride home so Green asked the driver to accommodate her. The driver dropped the Greens off first which is how the woman became aware of where both Donna and Raymond lived at the time. The driver the dropped the woman off on Stanton Road but did not see her go inside of any buildings. Police later determined that all the information the woman gave, including the name “Lisa Morris” was false.
The suspect is described as a Black Woman who stood somewhere between 5’5″ – 5’6″ and weighed 160 to 170 pounds. She was approximately 23 to 24 years old in 1978 and had a small nose, dark eyes, full lips, and a mole on her left cheek. The woman has scars on her temple and the right side of her face. She was wearing a short dark colored leather coat and a bandana on her head at the time of the abduction.
Sketches of the suspect were created and distributed following Raymond’s abduction but they failed to lead to any solid leads in the case. Police believe the woman might’ve taken the boy to raise as her own son or might’ve sold him for adoption outside of the United States. Either way, she’s never been identified.
Donna has never given up hope of finding Raymond and continues to search for him to this day. His abduction remains unsolved.
