Details of Disappearance

Blake was last seen in Running Springs, California on June 26th 1994. He was last seen at 8:00 pm that night as he walked to a barn located on the property of the Cedu School to check on the animals. A staff member saw the light turn on in the barn shortly afterwards. Blake did not return to his dormitory when the 10:00 pm curfew hit and he was never seen again.

The school was meant for troubled teens/ mentally handicapped teens and was considered a therapeutic boarding school. Blake had been enrolled at the school since June 1st and he told his mother he didn’t like it there and wished to return home.

A tracker was able to follow his footprints to a paved road near the school. The footprints appeared to have veered odd to the right. If he had taken a left, he would’ve ended up in a town nearby but the right led to a rugged cliff behind the school. Apparently the lights of the Highland could be seen 20 miles away.

Investigators initially believed that Blake had runaway from the school since this was a common occurrence at the school. They would commonly call the police up to 6 times a week in relation to runaways and criminal conduct committed on the campus.

There were numerous reported sightings of Blake in California and the state of Utah in 1994 and 1995. Various agencies continue to list Blake as an endangered runaway. Investigators believe that Blake wandered away from the school with a plan to return home back to Flagler, Colorado.

His family doubts that he ran away. They said he was a smart kid when he went missing and would’ve known there was nowhere to go even if he left. They have questioned whether foul play was involved in his disappearance or not.

They have been suspicious of a staff member at the school. He allegedly told police that he attempted to bring Blake back inside the school but the teen apparently outran him. Investigators have also brought up the fact that a convicted child killer lived near the school at the time Blake went missing. That person is now on death row.

Investigators have found no evidence that either person had any involvement in Blake’s disappearance but his family believes Blake might have been abducted and lured away from the campus on the night of his disappearance.

Blake is not the only student at Cedu School to disappear. One year before he disappeared, 17 year old John Inman ran away from the school. He has never been heard from again. In 2004, 16 year old Daniel Yuen ran away from the school and was never seen again.

There is no link between the cases other than the fact that all 3 teenagers disappeared from the same place and that two of them are considered runaway’s. The school filed for bankruptcy and closed in 2005.

Blake remains missing. His mother hopes that one day she’ll learn what happened to her son that night. His case remains unsolved and foul play is possible.
