Details of Disappearance

Shane was last seen in Manhattan, New York on August 10th 1989. He was last seen at the Martin Luther King Jr. Towers playground which is located at 113th Street and Lenox Avenue in the Harlem area. He was at the park with his mother, Rosa Glover. At some point, Rosa was approached by two children who asked for her permission to play with Shane. They also said they didn’t mind that he was little.

Rosa said the children could play. The children were described as a 10 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. The two were siblings. Shane was playing on the slide with these two children when a man approached Rosa and began to talk to her. He brought up the topic of crime and mentioned abduction and said “things happen to children”. He also pointed to scars he had from fighting.

She became distracted by the man, she turned back to see her son but Shane and the two children were both gone. The two children came back to the park through a hole in the fence a short time later. Rosa asked the two children where her son was and they both said they had left Shane in the park. She immediately knew something was wrong and took the two children to the police station to report Shane’s disappearance.

The police questioned the children extensively and also questioned the man that was talking to Rosa that day. Neither of them had anything substantial to point towards what happened to Shane. Investigators initially suspected that someone in Shane’s family took him but the circumstances of his disappearance point towards a stranger abduction. Investigators suspect he was taken by a non family member.

Investigators stated that they are seeking an unidentified male subject. The man is described as being African American who stood at 5’8″ and was wearing a yellow shirt and acid washed jeans. He was approximately 19 to 24 years of age in 1989. The person remains unidentified.

Investigators have looked at the possibility that Walker’s disappearance might be connected to the May 1989 disappearance of Christopher Dansby. Dansby disappeared from the same park as him and was seen playing with the same two children whom Walker was last seen with. They thought the boys might have been abducted as part of a black market baby ring operation. They also suspected that Andre Bryant was another possible victim of the ring. He was abducted from Brooklyn in March of 1989. None of the boys have ever been found. They were all babies and African American at the time.

It’s should also be noted that Shane and Christopher disappeared on the same day of the week, Thursday, and went missing only 2 hours apart from one another. Investigators have found no proof that Dansby and Walker’s cases are linked. They still believe that both were abducted by a non family member, however.

Shane’s mother still holds hope that her son is alive and will one day return to her. Both his parents still reside in the same neighborhood that they lived in when he disappeared. Shane’s disappearance remains unsolved.
