Details of Disappearance

Nancy was last seen in Columbia Falls, Montana on April 21st 1976. She was last seen walking home from babysitting for a family. She never returned home and was never seen or heard from again after she disappeared.

Nancy was a chronic runaway at the time of her disappearance. She has previously traveled as far as Seattle, Washington and Los Angeles, California. Nancy was always found after she ran off and would be returned home. A day prior to her disappearance, she was returned home after she ran away again. She spent a day in lockup in Kalispell, Montana. Investigators believe it’s possible she ran away again.

There was an unconfirmed sighting of Nancy In Anchorage, Alaska in 1983, 7 years after she disappeared. The sighting was reported by one of Nancy’s former teachers in a bar. It’s unclear if the girl was in fact Nancy.

Investigators have also considered the possibility that foul play might have been involved in Nancy’s case. Less then a year before she went missing, 14 year old Robyn Pettinato disappeared from Whitefish, Montana. This was located approximately 10 miles away from where Nancy disappeared. There’s been a lot of speculation that the cases are connected but this has not been proven and there are no suspects in either case.

At the time of her disappearance, Nancy lived with her grandmother as her parents were divorced at the time. She was described as a normal teenager and a good student who was into the Hippie Counterculture. Her disappearance remains unsolved.
