Details of Disappearance

Angela was last seen in Tacoma, Washington on July 7th 1979. She reportedly went to the Tacoma Mall located in the 1700 block of south 41st Street to buy a birthday card for her friend. Angela also had plans of attending a party later during that evening but she never made it to that event. She was never seen or heard from again.

Authorities initially believed that Angela had runaway from home as she had done this before and had a history of being truant from school. Angela has recently been transferred from Stewart Junior High School to Baker Junior High because she had set fire to another girls locker there.

Her mother also initially believed that her daughter left voluntarily and did not file a missing persons report for a day. Police initially speculated that she was in fact a runaway and was traveling the country in a Semi. Investigators started to consider other options when so much time passed without any word from the girl.

A man who was acquainted with Angela came forward and stated he had given the girl a ride that day and dropped her off near a Payless store. It’s unknown what happened after she was dropped off. Investigators believe that Angela might have met with foul play when she attempted to hitchhike from the mall to the party. They believe that Tammy might have been murdered by whomever she might have received a ride from.

Soon after her disappearance, an unidentified male called a cousin of Angela’s boyfriends the time. He stated that he had murdered Angela and her disposed of her body in the ocean. The caller also threatened to kill other family members of Angela. The call lasted longer then 2 1/2 hours.

Investigators stated that the call was likely a hoax but her mother was unsure if it was true or not. The caller sounded like he was a teenaged boy. The caller has never been identified.

Investigators consider Guy Rasmussen as a possible suspect in Angela’s disappearance. Guy was convicted of sexual assault in connection to the 1982 attack of a 16 year old girl and is considered a suspect in the 1980 slaying of Carla Wright. In 1996, Rasmussen was convicted of killing 9 year old Cynthia Allinger. All of his supposed victims were from Tacoma and knew him.

Rasmussen lived in the area that Meeker was last seen in and he wrote letters to her. Investigators have been unable to prove he was involved in Angela’s disappearance but continue to suspect he might have been involved.

Angela disappeared two days before her 14th birthday and had plans of attending a concert in Seattle, Washington. Her family does not believe she would voluntarily miss the event and do not believe she ran away.

Angela’s disappearance remains unsolved and foul play is suspected.
