Details of Disappearance
Jared Negrete was last seen in Yucaipa, California on July 19th 1991. He was last seen while on a camping trip with his Boy Scout Troop. The troop and the adult supervisor of them were hiking to the Summit of Mount San Gorgonio which is 115,000 feet high.
When the group was 1,000 feet from the top of the mountain, Jared became tired and was instructed to remain behind alone while the rest of the group completed the hike. After the hike was completed, the group returned and found that Jared had disappeared. He has never been seen again.
Jared was carrying a blue two quart canteen full of water at the time of his disappearance. The temperatures were warm enough for him to survive unaided on the mountains for a few days and there was a sufficient amount of water located in the area.
The camera that was owned by Jared was located during a search of the area. The camera was fully loaded with film and investigators found landscape photographs on the inside. They also found a haunting final image of Jared. The photo only showed his eyes and nose. No other sign of Jared has ever been found to indicate his whereabouts.
At the time of his disappearance, Jared lived in El Monte, California with his family and was an 8th grade student. His disappearance remains unsolved and investigators believe its likely that Jared is deceased.
