Details of Disappearance
Kathleen Shea was last seen on March 18th 1965 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. On that day, Kathleen attended all of her morning classes at her school and walked to her residence which is located in the 500 block of 14th street at approximately noon for lunch.
Kathleen’s father offered to drive her back to school but she preferred to walk as it was only four blocks away from her house. Kathleen was last seen walking between 15th and 16th Street. A crossing guard reportedly helped her cross 15th street and then she stopped to chat with a neighbor. This is the last confirmed sighting of the girl. The neighbor stated that the girl was in good spirits. Kathleen continued to walk to school after the conversation ended.
Kathleen simply vanished and was never seen again. Her disappearance was not noticed until approximately 4:45 pm as she never returned home from school. An extensive search was undertaken. Bloodhounds were used in the search. They picked up on her scent and were able to trace it to Garfield Street which is just 1 block away from her school.
Authorities suspect that Kathleen was abducted by a stranger and continue to pursue leads and possible suspects in the case. No one has been arrested or charged in Kathy’s case.
At the time of her disappearance, Kathy lived with her parents and younger brothers. Her parents gave birth to another daughter after she disappeared. Her parents are both deceased but her siblings are alive and hope to locate her.
Kathleen’s disappearance remains unsolved and she’s presumed abducted.
