Details of Disappearance

Betsy was last seen in Pauingassi, Manitoba, Canada on October 22nd 1988. She left her home that evening to attend a school dance but instead played volleyball there. She left the school at 11:00 pm with her boyfriend and spent the night at his home. He said he last saw her leaving his home the next morning.

Owens has never been seen or heard from since 1988. Little information is available about her disappearance but investigators suspect she met with foul play. Her family and members of her community feel they know who killed Betsy but investigators have stated there isn’t enough evidence for an arrest in the case.

Police searched the Pauingassi area after she initially disappeared and again in 1996-1997 but no evidence of her whereabouts was found. Betsy’s disappearance remains unsolved and foul play is strongly suspected. She is a member of the Pauingassi First Nations community.
